Damfino gin barWith Gin gaining popularity over recent years, what better time to come up with a design for a Gin Bar.
Gin has been a staple drink in the UK for hundreds of years, so straight away, we knew this brand needed a bit of class and history, and settled on the Victorian period. A time of lavish parties, swanky outfits and a good ol' knees up! Before coming up with any mood boards or designs, we spent time researching fun phrases and words from the Victorians to give inspiration to the brand name. Of course we found MANY phases that we loved but one phase stood out..."Damfino". To those of us who aren't old enough to know what that means (that's all of us!) the phase means "Damned if I know", and let's be honest, if we've had enough drinks, you'll be damned if we know anything! |
ThemeName chosen, it was time to think about theming!
Continuing with the theme, we researched funny Victorian photography because even though most photos from that era are moody, Victorians did in fact have a sense of humour! We knew we wanted to work off the style of animals as humans with clothes, hats, glasses etc. This heavily influenced the icon of a bird - lets call him Bertie - with spectacles. Now even though these images influenced Bertie, they were also very detailed and more like oil paintings but we needed something more simplified. In the end, we actually found the style of animal we wanted from some old wallpaper. |

Colour PaletteFor the colour palette, we instantly knew we wanted something dark and moody. A bit like you were in a pub when candles were the main sort of light.
Taking a look at upperclass bars from the time, deep greens and reds were the main colours but to add some lighter tones, we added a golden colour which adds to the class of drinking gin. |
